Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Playnix collects when you play games here, who else is involved, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

The short version

You do not need an account to use Playnix, and we do not ask for your name, address or payment details — we have no way to take them. What we do have is standard website analytics, and advertising served by Google and its partners, which uses cookies. Your favourites and settings are stored in your own browser and never reach our servers. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time, and the links to do so are in this document.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to playnixgames.com and any subdomain of it ("Playnix", "we", "us"). It does not cover third-party sites we link to, or the games themselves, which are operated by their developers and distributors — see embedded games and third-party content below.

For data protection purposes, the operator of Playnix is the data controller. Contact details are at the end of this policy.

What data is collected

Information you choose to give us

The only way to send us personal information is to email us. If you do, we receive your email address, whatever you put in the message, and any attachments. We use it to answer you and for nothing else.

Information collected automatically

When you load a page, the following is collected:

  • Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which games and pages people actually use. It records pages viewed, time on page, referring site, approximate location (country/region level, derived from IP), device type, browser, operating system and screen size. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation.
  • Server and CDN logs. Our hosting provider records the usual technical request data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent — for delivery, rate-limiting and abuse prevention. This is a security necessity, not a marketing exercise.
  • Advertising data. Google AdSense and its partner networks collect data through cookies and similar technologies in order to select and measure ads. See advertising and Google AdSense.

Information stored on your device (not sent to us)

Playnix uses your browser's local storage for a small amount of state that makes the site usable. This stays on your device. We have no server-side copy, no way to read it remotely, and no way to link it to you:

  • Favourites — the games you have starred, so the list is still there next time.
  • Recently played — so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Your cookie/consent choice — so we stop asking you the same question on every page.

That is the complete list. It is stored under the keys playnix:favorites, playnix:recent and playnix-consent, which you can inspect yourself in your browser's developer tools. We name them so the claim is checkable rather than something you have to take on trust.

Clearing your browser's site data deletes all of it. Doing so will lose your favourites, because there is no copy anywhere else — that is the deliberate trade-off of not making you sign up.

Why we process this data, and on what legal basis

  • To run the site (serving pages, loading games, preventing abuse) — legitimate interests, and strictly necessary processing.
  • To understand usage and improve the catalogue (analytics) — consent where consent is required, otherwise legitimate interests.
  • To fund the site (advertising, including personalised advertising) — consent, where you are in a region that requires it.
  • To answer your emails — legitimate interests, or performance of a request you made.
  • To comply with the law — legal obligation.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. "Similar technologies" means local storage and comparable mechanisms, which we use as described above. The cookies in play on Playnix fall into three groups:

  • Strictly necessary. Security, load balancing and remembering your consent choice. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site, and no consent is required for them.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics cookies, which count visits and tell us which games are worth keeping. These are only set where permitted, and are subject to your consent choice in regions that require one.
  • Advertising. Set by Google and third-party ad vendors to select ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure whether an ad worked.

Controlling cookies. If you are shown our consent banner, your choice there governs analytics and advertising cookies, and it is remembered in your browser. To change it, clear this site's stored data (or just the playnix-consent entry) and the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Independently of us, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies — see the privacy settings in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge — and the vendor opt-outs in the advertising section work whatever you chose here. Blocking all cookies will not stop you playing games, but parts of the site may behave oddly.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Playnix is free because it is ad-supported. We use Google AdSense to serve display advertising, and the games themselves may show ads sold by their distributor.

Because Playnix is a general-audience, family-friendly site, ad requests on pages directed to a child audience are tagged accordingly so that personalised advertising is not served against them.

Embedded games and third-party content

Games are loaded into the page from third-party servers — principally GamePix and the developers it licenses from. When a game loads, that provider receives the request and may set its own cookies, keep its own logs and show its own advertising. Those activities are governed by their privacy policies, not this one. We do not pass them any information about you beyond what a normal web request contains.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing. Data reaches third parties only in these ways:

  • Service providers that run the site for us — hosting and CDN (Vercel), analytics (Google), advertising (Google and its ad partners).
  • Game providers, as described above, when you launch a game.
  • Legal requirements — if we are compelled by valid legal process, or need to act to protect our rights or someone's safety.

International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so data may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, our providers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision as the transfer mechanism.

How long data is kept

  • Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for a maximum of 14 months from collection, then deleted automatically.
  • Server and CDN logs — typically 30 days, longer only where an active security investigation requires it.
  • Advertising cookies — for the lifetime set by the vendor; see Google's notices above. You can delete them at any time from your browser.
  • Local storage on your device — until you clear it. We cannot delete it for you and it never expires on its own.
  • Emails you send us — kept as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted.

Your rights (UK and EU — GDPR)

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have the following rights over personal data concerning you:

  • Access — to be told whether we hold data about you, and to get a copy.
  • Rectification — to have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Erasure — to have your data deleted ("the right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction — to have processing paused while a dispute is resolved.
  • Objection — to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and an absolute right to object to direct marketing.
  • Portability — to receive data you provided in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing that already happened. Clear this site's stored data to bring the consent banner back and choose again, and use the vendor opt-out links above, which take effect regardless of what you told us.
  • Complain — to your national supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

To exercise any of these, email miguelmonteracharger@gmail.com. We respond within one month and there is no charge. Please note an honest limitation: since we hold no account for you, we usually cannot identify which analytics or advertising records relate to you specifically. Where that is the case we will say so, and point you to the relevant controls — deleting your browser data and using the opt-out links above is often faster and more complete than anything we can do on your behalf.

Your rights (California — CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information have been collected, the sources, the purpose, and the categories of third parties it is disclosed to — that is set out in this policy.
  • Delete personal information we have collected about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Non-discrimination — using any of these rights will never get you a worse service. There is no paid tier to push you towards.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies for personalised advertising may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. To opt out, choose "Reject non-essential" in our consent banner, use Google Ads Settings, or enable a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser — we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request. You may also email miguelmonteracharger@gmail.com, including "California" in the subject line.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Playnix is a family-friendly, general-audience site and many of the games are obviously appealing to children. We take that seriously.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. There is no registration, no profile, no username, no chat, no image upload, no comment section and no way for a child to type personal information into this site and have it reach us. Favourites and settings stay in the browser on the device.

On pages we treat as directed to children, ad requests are tagged so that only non-personalised, child-appropriate advertising is served, and interest-based profiling is not applied.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us — for example, by emailing us — contact miguelmonteracharger@gmail.com and we will delete it from our records promptly, and confirm to you when it is done. If we become aware of such data ourselves, we delete it without waiting to be asked.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS everywhere, games are sandboxed in isolated frames, and we hold no password database or payment data to lose — the simplest security measure available is not collecting the data in the first place, and we have taken it. No system is perfectly secure, and we make no absolute guarantee.

Do Not Track

There is still no agreed industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track signals, so we do not respond to DNT. We do honour Global Privacy Control signals, as described in the California section above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the "last updated" date at the top of the page, and for material changes we will show a notice on the site. Continuing to use Playnix after a change means you accept the updated policy.
